Sunrise
Updated: Jan 12

I’ve always been told that for every dusk there’s a dawn. That there’s nothing as refreshing, as hopeful, as a sunrise. The significance of a new day means being able to start over and forget that any mistake I made would somehow be forgivable… maybe even forgettable.
As an idealist with the mind of a realist, I was never able to grasp this notion. How do you wash away what has already been done? How do you bid goodbye to something that’s now been etched into that path people call ‘destiny’?
It made sense, though. ‘A rising sun’ - the term in itself is so positive. So why has it been so difficult for me to be able to accept it?
Perhaps, it’s because I realized that even the lowest of lows can create a serendipity. There’s a melancholic peace in something that fades away… an acceptance that only experience brings on.
And that’s why I seek solace in a sun that’s going down.
Dusk.
The fading sun.
It almost feels like heaving a sigh of relief that whatever battles were thrown my way that day… I survived them. Like I’ve said before - it’s always been easier for me to survive a storm than live it.
And each fading sunset allows me to look up and look forward to another day filled with obstacles.
When the sun breathes it’s last ray of the day, I let out my first silent cry of victory.
So bring on the sunrise, for when it sets, I’ll still be there.
